Articles-Ferrari G599

Ferrari looks to the future.Ferrari's high-tech and uncomprisingly styled GT come with the firm's most powerful V12

Other Ferrari models will be left in the dust

As steeped in history as Ferrari surely is,it's becoming increasingly difficult to predict its design direction; but somehow they have arrived at this, the 599 GTB.
This is again Pininfarina's work, and the designers have borrowed heavily from the flagship's Enzo's chaos of lines- as well as the curves and long bonnet proportions of the four-seat 612 Scaglietti-in an effort to relay the car's sporting and grand touring capabilities.
At the heart of the 599 is the firm's most powerful front mounted V12 yet, a six-litre unit derived not from the 612's but the incredible Enzo's. It produces 620bhp at 7,600rpm. Mated to an optional, faster-than-ever F1 multifaceted appearance with all purpose performance.
Expect the car to reach 60mph in around four seconds, as fast as an F430, and not run out of puff until past 200mph.
But straight-line speed isn't where it ends. Ferrari chief, Amedo Felisa, says it has the performance of an F40,but it's much easier to drive, saying "There's no need for an e-diff on a front-engined car."

The bold styling is predominantly an exercise in aerodynamics

Instead, the big development here is a traction control system that can feather the throttle, rather than simply cut power altogether.
the 599 will also have switchable active dampling via an F430-style manettino switch, and Ferrari's F1 derived launch control system.
In addition, the 599's all-aluminium body and chasis is about 100kg lighter than the 575's and, coupled with the extra 112bhp available and the improved weight distribution, it promises to be a radically different driving experience.
The first few cars will go on sale towards the end of this year and are expected to cost a limb or two!
